Members of a species of small, agile mammals of the mongoose family, with a pointed face, tiny ears, black eye patches, living in cooperative warrens containing 20 to 50 animals, found in southwestern Africa, and unmistakably recognizable by the upright posture of the pack's sentinels that watch for predators.
